Liz's Hike

Written by: Lizzy

Great View with Minimal Effort

Who doesn't love to unwind to a breathtaking view? In The Basin, we're pretty spoiled with a plethora of spectacular views, but a lot of the best ones take some pretty sweaty, huff-and-puff effort to get there. <br>Liz shared this secret, wonderful spot with my youngest daughter and I, and it's now one of my go-to, quick-hikes, when I really want to be astounded and amazed. The hike is super-easy, minimal elevation changes, and the view at the overlook — will melt any anger and trouble you have almost completely away.

Additional Notes:

This trail is actually an ORV trail, so occasionally you may run into some off-roaders zooming around, but it's never happened to me.

Because it's an ORV trail, it's basically a dirt road, and it's super sandy. There are lots of turns and twists, and it's easy to get off the trail, but it's also easy to get re-oriented, and basically if you head away from the highway, you'll end up at the overlook.

And boy, is the overlook worth it!! I often bring a book or some writing, or even do a little bit of meditation and yoga. It's serene, wild, and breath-taking, plus a nice, easy jaunt if you're just not wanting to put a lot of effort in, but you want a view.
